Niemcy zakazują spożywania alkoholu na wszystkich dworcach kolejowych: Kiedy nowe przepisy wejdą w życie?
Deutsche Bahn wprowadza zakaz picia alkoholu we wszystkich 5 400 dworcach kolejowych w całym kraju. Dowiedz się więcej o tym, kiedy przepisy wejdą w życie, jakie są wyjątki oraz jakie są konsekwencje dla naruszycieli
Alcohol consumption will gradually be banned at train stations in Germany. The new rule will apply to platforms, waiting rooms, and other areas managed by Deutsche Bahn, but will not prohibit passengers from carrying unopened bottles or visiting licensed restaurants.
According to Deutsche Bahn, the ban is set to take effect at all 5,400 stations by October 15, 2026. The company explains the decision as a necessary step to reduce the number of assaults, conflicts, acts of vandalism, and litter at train stations.

When will the alcohol ban take effect at all train stations in Germany?
The ban will be implemented gradually, as Deutsche Bahn must coordinate changes to the rules at each station with local authorities and relevant agencies. The new policy is expected to cover all 5,400 stations by October 15, 2026.
Approximately 30 stations are already alcohol-free. These include the stations in Cologne, Munich, and Hamburg. The next phase will begin on September 1, when the ban takes effect at Berlin Central Station, Berlin-Gesundbrunnen Station, as well as the stations in Kiel and Braunschweig.
Therefore, the rule is not yet in effect nationwide. Until mid-October, passengers should pay attention to local announcements and informational signs at their specific station.

What exactly will be prohibited, and what will remain permitted?
The new rule prohibits the direct consumption of alcoholic beverages on platforms, in waiting rooms, passageways, and other public areas of Deutsche Bahn stations.
At the same time, passengers will be able to:
- Carry alcohol in sealed bottles or bags
- Purchase it at station stores and take it with them
- Consume alcohol in licensed restaurants, bars, and cafes on station premises
The Deutsche Bahn ban applies specifically to stations and does not automatically prohibit alcohol on all trains. During your trip, you must follow the rules of the specific carrier or route.

What are the consequences for violators, and why is Deutsche Bahn tightening the rules?
A passenger caught drinking alcohol in a restricted area will be asked to leave the station premises. In the event of a repeat offense, Deutsche Bahn may issue an official ban on visiting the station. The company’s announcement does not mention a separate fine specifically for alcohol consumption; however, additional penalties apply for aggressive behavior, property damage, or disobeying police orders.
One of the reasons for tightening the rules was an attack on a 26-year-old Deutsche Bahn security officer. During a confrontation with an intoxicated passenger on a regional train, the officer fell from a moving car near the Ettlingen-Bruchhausen station and sustained serious injuries.
According to Federal Police data cited by Bild, more than a third of violent crimes at German train stations are committed by individuals under the influence of alcohol. Deutsche Bahn also notes that stations where the restrictions are already in place have seen fewer incidents of violence and litter.
